Arjen Robben has scored his fair share of important goals for Bayern Munich down the years.
However, the winner against Borussia Dortmund in the 2013 Champions League final goes down as one of his best.
Ilkay Gündogan’s penalty cancelled out Mario Mandžukić’s strike to seemingly send the match into extra-time.
This wasn’t the usual cut inside from the right and let rip into the corner type of goal from Robben, but it was another example of his incredible quality.
In the 89th minute Robben latched onto a stray ball and produced a sublime touch to get away from the on-rushing Dortmund defenders. With the softest of touches, he forced the ball past Roman Weidenfeller to win the Bavarians their fifth Champions League trophy.
It’s almost as if the skill involved in this goal is under-appreciated, but not by Bayern fans as this goes down as one of the most important goals in their history.
