“Going to challenge” – Arne Slot gives his view on how good Chelsea are right now | OneFootball

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has given his opinions on how good he thinks Chelsea are right now as we start the new season.

The new Premier League season kicks off today and has games across the weekend, and Liverpool will be looking to defend their league title from winning it last season.

Slot has had a great start to life as Liverpool manager, but he is expecting a challenge again this coming season.

Chelsea have had a superb end to the season by winning the Conference League, qualifying for this seasons Champions League competition, and winning the Club World Cup of course over summer. It’s created real confidence, a buzz, and real momentum around the club and the fan base.

The Blues opening game is this Sunday against Crystal Palace, and Slot believes that Chelsea are title challengers this season.

As cited on talkSPORT this week, Slot said:

“I expected them to win [the league] last season already. The amount of quality they have and they were there at the start of the season.

Squad depth, quality, they have a very good manager as well, and I think they’ve shown this by winning the trophies they won last season.”

Chelsea are challengers

Slot continued:

“It was good for us that they also had a period last season where they struggled and that’s why they couldn’t compete till the end for the league title.

“But now they’re strengthening the team again, so a team that’s, in my opinion, one of the ones that are going to challenge for a league title.”

I don’t think many would disagree with that right now with the form Chelsea have been in.
