Former Gunner Mika Biereth has been making some headlines recently after his blistering start to life with new club AS Monaco.
After leaving Arsenal for Sturm Graz in the summer, Biereth scored 12 goals and assisted a further five in 19 games with the Austrian side. That turned out to be enough for Monaco to make a move in January, with Sturm making a quick profit on the 22-year-old.
Biereth has since gone on to score 11 goals in 13 games with Monaco, including three hat-tricks against AJ Auxerre, FC Nantes, and Stade Reims. He also has three assists.

At the start of March, Sami Mokbel reported for the Daily Mail that the FA were alerted to Biereth’s form, with the association aware of the striker’s potential availability to play for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Biereth explained his international options recently, saying: “It’s a unique situation. There are not many players who can play for four countries.
“My mother was born and raised in Bosnia, my father is Danish-German, and I have lived in England.”

The general assumption was that Biereth would play for Denmark, having represented the country a number of times at various youth levels and, given the rumours about England, the Danes moved to secure his future during this window.
The 22-year-old, who wasn’t even called up by the Denmark u21s for the international break in November, received his first senior call up during this break. Not only was he part of the squad, he played in both of Denmark’s UEFA Nations League matches against Portugal, starting the first leg, which they won 1-0.
Sadly, they lost the second leg 5-2 after extra time with Biereth replacing Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund 15 minutes before the end of normal time.
If England wanted to make a move for Biereth, they have now missed their chance.
