The home side took just six minutes to open the scoring, with former Chelsea man Christian Pulisic curling an effort into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.

They doubled their lead after 20 minutes after some Lecce pressure courtesy of another Chelsea man, as Olivier Giroud nodded home from a corner to put Stefano Pioli’s side well on course for another three points.

Lecce’s chances of getting back into the game were reduced dramatically just before the interval, when striker Nikola Krstovic was sent off for a kung-fu kick style challenge on Samuel Chukwueze, leaving his side with a mountain to climb.

10 minutes into the second half, Milan added a third through talisman Rafael Leão, who ran onto a beautifully weighted through ball from Adli to slot his side another goal up.

With the result put beyond doubt early, Milan could have run riot, missing several gilt-edged opportunities to further extend their lead, while Pioli was able to rotate his key men and hand them a well earned rest.

The win leaves Milan a massive nine points clear of Juventus in 3rd, though the Old Lady have a game in hand.

Though the league title is seemingly headed to their city rivals, Champions League looks set to head to both teams in Milan.
