Ella Morris and Katie Robinson were among those to go close for England. (Jayde Chamberlain/SPP)
England had the better of the WU23 Euro League game at the Fredrikstad Stadium in Krakeroy but had to settle for a 0-0 result against Norway.
The Young Lionesses began strongly, as Lucia Kendall and Ruby Grant combined to play in Mia Enderby, the latter finding Katie Robinson whose shot across goal was well dealt with by Sunniva Skoglund.
Brooke Aspin was forced off through injury and replaced by Teyah Goldie, then in first-half stoppage time Anouk Denton’s cross was met by Kendall’s header but the keeper was equal to it.
Denton was again involved as Ella Morris shot narrowly over less than five minutes after the restart, while England’s best chance of the half came when Robinson’s cross was laid off by Enderby for Kendall but her goalbound effort was deflected over.
Robinson saw her 25-yard strike superbly tipped over the bar, Isobel Goodwin was close to a goal on her debut and Enderby also narrowly wide with her late effort.
Emma Coates’ side play their final game of the year, when they host Sweden at Doncaster Rovers on Monday 2 December.
