The American keeper took to her personal Instagram account to confirm her Ashton Gate exit yesterday afternoon.
Yáñez joined Bristol City from American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club San Diego Wave in January. The 27-year-old went on to make seven appearances for The Robins in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Yáñez would have faced a battle with Fran Bentley for the number one jersey at Bristol City this season, however, she has opted for a different challenge.
Announcing her Bristol City exit, Yáñez said “Thank you Bristol City for the amazing opportunity to play for such an amazing club.
“Throughout the highs and lows, this team stuck together and so did the fans. I can’t thank the fans enough for the unreal support throughout the season; your support is unmatched.
“Grateful to my staff, teammates, and fans for helping me grow as both a person and a player. Lifelong memories and friends created. For now, it is time for a new challenge.”
Yáñez is the seventh player to leave Bristol City this summer following the club’s relegation to the Barclays Women’s Championship.
