Knocked out by a bouncer on a visit to Newcastle Upon Tyne, goalkeeper Trevor Carson revealing what happened.

Carson was playing for Dundee United at the time and he and his teammates had came down to Tyneside for a Christmas night out.

This was back in December 2021 Trevor Carson says (see below).

The former Dundee United keeper saying he had just been trying to help out a younger teammate who was ‘steaming’ and had thrown up, attracting the attention of door staff.

Carson though stating that he was the one who ended up getting the worst of it, when he claims one of the door staff knocked him out for no reason.

Trevor Carson claims that Newcastle Upon Tyne is ‘notorious for bouncers being idiots’, which is news to me, certainly not in terms of being any more ‘notorious’ than elsewhere.

I take it Carson isn’t intending a return to Newcastle Upon Tyne any time soon!

The Courier quoting from Trevor Carson speaking on the Open Goal podcast – 19 September 2024:

“It’s Saturday night, we’ve gone out – Newcastle’s notorious for bouncers being idiots.

“One of our young lads had never really drank before so obviously we’ve got him absolutely steaming and he’s being sick all over the booth.

“The next thing, the bouncers are there, over aggressive, and they’re dragging him down the fire exit.

“I know what they’re like in Newcastle so I’m going to follow him to make sure he’s okay.

“I’ve made the mistake of going down the fire exit with him to make sure he gets out alright and the next thing big bouncer just clocks me from behind.
