Birmingham City’s teenage goalkeeper Lucy Jones is leaving the club this summer.

The 19-year-old announced the news that she is moving on via a post on her personal X account just a short time ago.

Jones has spent the last six seasons with Blues in which she has successfully negotiated her way through the club’s youth ranks before going on to feature for the first team. The youngster made her Barclays Women’s Super League debut for Birmingham City in 2022 when she came off the bench to feature in a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City at St Andrew’s. Jones has gone on to be named in the Birmingham City matchday squad on 30 occasions.

With Birmingham City unable to guarantee Jones first team minutes this season, the player joined FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club West Bromwich Albion on a dual-registration basis. She helped The Baggies to record a ninth-place finish. Jones made 12 appearances for West Bromwich Albion in all competitions.

The England youth international is highly-rated and after getting some experience at West Bromwich Albion, she will now be hoping to push for the number one jersey at her next club. Jones’ plans for next season are not yet known.
