The career of former Italian international Antonio Candreva is littered with outstanding strikes.

Whether for Lazio, Inter or current side Sampdoria, the 34-year-old midfielder has always loved having a pop from distance - and has quite the highlight reel of goals to show for it.

Candreva added another absolute banger to his collection on Sunday afternoon as Sampdoria played host to Udinese at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Serie A. It might well be the best he has ever scored, too.

With just one victory in their opening six matches in the Italian top-flight this season, Sampdoria might have been fearing the worst when Roberto Pereyra gave the visitors an early lead. However, an own goal from Jens Stryger Larsen put the home side back on level terms, before Portuguese striker Beto restored Udinese's lead on the stroke of half-time.

A penalty from captain Fabio Quagliarella just after the break saw Sampdoria gain parity at 2-2 in what was a pulsating encounter.

Everything that had gone before, though, simply served to set the stage for Candreva's incredible hit.

Receiving the ball around 25 yards out from goal, Candreva took a single touch before delightfully drilling the ball into the top corner from the angle.

Udinese keeper Marco Silvestri could do nothing but admire the brilliance before him. He had absolutely no chance from the moment it left Candreva's boot.

You can check out the belting Goal of the Season contender below, which was Candreva's third strike of the current campaign. He'll be doing seriously well if he can better it!

Candreva's 69th minute screamer was deserving of winning any game. Unfortunately for the player himself and all connected with Sampdoria, former Sheffield Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri grabbed an equaliser for Udinese eight minutes from time to spoil the mood of the home crowd.

It may not have secured all three points for his side, but we reckon that Candreva might just replay his thunderbolt a time or two on Sunday evening. It's definitely a goal that we'll be seeing again when the end-of-season awards roll around.
