It’s probably the biggest game in club football and both Real Madrid and Barcelona have lived up to the billing so far, with two goals and a third not given in the opening half hour at the Bernabeu.
Barça stunned the home crowd after just six minutes when Andreas Christensen headed home Raphinha’s corner after Real keeper Andriy Lunin went for the ball and got nothing.
That lead lasted only 12 minutes. Pau Cubarsi took down Lucas Vázquez and Vini Jr. made no mistake from 12 yards, giving Marc-André ter Stegen no chance.
There could have been a third goal when Barça thought they had scored through Lamine Yamal, who tonight became the youngest ever starter in El Clásico.
The ball was adjudged not to have been over the line though by VAR after the goal-line technology seemingly didn’t work.
There is little doubt what Los Cules fans thought online, and their own official X account put out a cryptic post suggesting the call was wrong.
A highly controversial moment that could have a major bearing on the rest of the game and the La Liga title race.
