Overview:
Go Ahead Eagles had a fantastic campaign last season which was capped off by their KNVB Cup victory over AZ Alkmaar. The sides first piece of silverware since winning the Eredivisie title back in 1933 Paul Simonis lots of praise and ultimately earned him a move to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. Melvin Boel takes over at Go Ahead Eagles with the unenviable task of following in the footsteps of Simonis. The side have also lost some key players from last season in Enric Llansana to Anderlecht and Oliver Antman to Rangers.
Transfers in: Richonell Margaret (RKC Waalwijk)
Transfers out: Oliver Antman (Rangers), Enric Llansana (Anderlecht)
Key player: Victor Edvardsen
Swedish winger Edvardsen was part of the dynamic winger duo Go Ahead Eagles deployed last season. In 40 games he grabbed nine goals and provided six assists. With Antman now gone, the side will need Edvardsen to keep up the form he showed last season.
Young player to watch: Jakob Breum
The 21-year-old Dane could easily have been in the key player section. In his second season with the side, the former Odense man grabbed 11 goals and five assists. If Go Ahead Eagles can keep hold of him this summer, expect another great season from the midfielder.
Transfer window needs:
Replacing Antman will be key. Oskar Siira Sivertsen may well be the one that steps into the Finns shoes. The 21-year-old joined midway through the season after a fantastic 2024 campaign for Kristiansund. With a full pre season at Go Ahead Eagles under his belt, he could be the next man up. If not, the side will need to go shopping.
