Go Ahead Eagles have announced the signing of 20-year-old Aske Adelgaard. The left-back has signed a deal until 2028 and swaps Odense BK in Denmark for the Eredivisie club. Adelgaard is the third Danish player in the Deventer based clubs squad for this season and brings cover to left-back after the departure of Bas Kuipers to Twente in the summer.
Adelgaard can play as a left-back or as a central defender if required. Originally part of the Randers set-up, he switched to Odense and made his Superliga debut during the 2022/2023 season. He made 24 appearances that season, grabbing one assist. Last season he played 18 league games for the side and grabbed just one assist.
Go Ahead Eagles have lost both of their opening Eredivisie matches without scoring, which comes after a disappointing defeat in the Europa Conference League second qualifying round to Brann. Over the summer they lost head coach René Hake to Manchester United as he joined the coaching staff at Old Trafford.
