Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe described winning the FA Cup as a “glorious feeling” and admitted he was very proud of all the players and staff.

It was a brilliant afternoon for the Reds at Wembley, with the win securing the team’s place in next season’s Europa League. Just when we thought United wouldn’t be competing in Europe next season.

The joke turns on Newcastle United.

Erik ten Hag’s side pulled off a remarkable 2-1 win over rivals Man City to stop Pep Guardiola from winning the Double in consecutive seasons.

It took goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo to send United to win the FA Cup for the 13th time.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe buzzing

The 54-year-old has ignored speculation for months since arriving at Old Trafford. There was no public backing for the manager and the media jumped on that, especially in the lead up to the season finale as pressure mounted on Ten Hag.

There is no denying that Ten Hag’s future dominated the pre-match build-up.

Ratcliffe was in attendance at Wembley to see United lift the trophy.

“It is a glorious feeling to win the FA Cup at Wembley,” Ratcliffe said, as per BBC Sport.

“Manchester United clearly were not the favourites to win today but they played with total commitment and skill and overcame one of the great teams in football.

“Ae are all very proud of the players and the staff who work tirelessly to support them.”

United officials will now carry out a review for the 2023/24 season, which will conclude with a decision on the manager’s future.

Hopefully, Ratcliffe and co decide to back Ten Hag for a third campaign. The Dutchman deserves a shot at another season.
