Glazers keen to stay put and turn Manchester United into a £7bn business

According to The Guardian, Manchester United owners, the Glazers are keen to turn the organization into a business worth £7bn.

The Red Devils are one of the top sporting institutions in the world and are currently valued at £3.05bn. The fact that they want to more than double the value hints at them keen to stay in charge of the club.

That will not be good news for fans who have been involved in major protests against the Americans’ ownership. Events reached a tipping point last Sunday when United fans stormed Old Trafford ahead of the clash against Liverpool.

The Americans have been in control of the club since 2005. However, they have never retained the trust of the fanbase and time has done little to mend the deficit.

They remain unfazed by the growing unrest among the fans and remain committed to the club. Not only are they aware of sitting on a financial goldmine but are also taken in by the status of owning such an esteemed institution. (h/t The Express)

Having paid £790million to purchase United back in 2005, the Glazers have seen their investment grow triple in the last 16 years. There is little doubt that they will make a hefty profit when they decide to sell up. However, they do not appear to be keen on doing that anytime soon.

United will now review security arrangements and will also consider banning fans responsible for criminality. A club statement released yesterday made it clear that fans forcibly made their way onto the Old Trafford turf.
