Ticket news is welcome, but more work needs to be done…

It’s been announced this morning that next season will see the return of away allocations to the Glasgow Derby.

The SPFL  today revealed that both Celtic and theRangers have come to a compromise and it’s expected that an allocation of 5 percent will be made available for Derby clashes starting next season.

A quick check of the maths reveals that to be around 2500 briefs for travelling supporters. While that’s an upgrade on the lock out we have at the moment or the measly 800 on offer before, more still needs to be done to make it more accessible to the many more who want the away day experience.

Yes an acceptable amount would be around four or five thousand. We know we aren’t going to go back to the old days of eight thousand, due to the actions of one club which wasn’t Celtic I may add, but it’s a step in the right direction.

A European style allocation is what should be deemed as acceptable. Locking out supporters (despite some of the poisonous chanting we get inside Celtic park when they visit)  is diluting the atmosphere at one of the most passionate Derby matches in world football. It makes it all the better when we put them in their place and give them nothing to sing about.
