FC Barcelona have four of their players playing away from them on loan this season, i.e., Oriol Romeu, Vitor Roque, Alex Valle, and Clement Lenglet.
Among these four players, Clement Lenglet is proving to be quite an important player for his side, Atletico Madrid, this season. He has been a regular starter for Diego Simeone lately and has started 11 La Liga games and 4 UEFA Champions League games so far this season.
Lenglet has to compete with Jose Maria Gimenez and Robin Le Normand for a position in the starting lineup, and as SPORT has reported, the Atletico Madrid coach highlighted some of the key strengths of the Barcelona loanee as he compared him with his two competitors while addressing a press conference ahead of his side’s match against Salzburg:
“Robin (Le Normand) and José (María Giménez) have greater speed. Clement (Lenglet) is more positional, much more intelligent in terms of his physical structure, and makes the most of his attributes.”
“All three are performing very well for us. Perhaps, in aerial play, José is the best; Robin is very strong in duels, and Clement plays very well with his feet, giving us something different in our buildup.”
Some forecasts made about the upcoming match between Atletico Madrid and Salzburg claim that Lenglet is set to get another start in the final League Phase game along with Robin Le Normand.
Thus, the Barcelona loanee will get another chance to showcase his strengths in the middle of the defense. Hopefully, he will continue to impress with the characteristics that Simeone highlighted in his presser.
The Frenchman has been surplus to requirements at Barcelona for some years now, and after his loan stints at Tottenham and Aston Villa, he is now once again playing away from the Catalan team with Diego Simeone getting the best out of him.
