Borussia Dortmund chief gives his view on Jadon Sancho and his lack of game time at Manchester United

Speaking to German broadcaster SPORT1 (h/t Manchester Evening News), Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke gave his opinion on what is going wrong for Jadon Sancho at Manchester United

The 21-year-old English winger finally joined the Red Devils this summer in a hair-raising £73million move. But since then, he has failed to impress as much as he did during his time in the Bundesliga.

In his last two Bundesliga seasons, he amassed a tally of 25 goals and 39 assists in 58 matches. But for Man United, he is yet to score or assist in the 7 games he has played in so far.

Sancho is, in fact, struggling for game time at United so far. He has started just two times in their 6 league games and is yet to complete the full 90 minutes in the Premier League, playing a total of just 200 minutes during that time.

And according to Watzke, perhaps the reason behind this is Sancho’s placement in Gareth Southgate’s pecking order for the Three Lions.

The German is right in his assessment of Sancho’s exploits with the England national team, where he has made just 11 starts in total despite his stellar form for Dortmund over the years.

But that may not be the reason for his lack of starts at Man United. The winger, despite the hype, is still quite young and could still be finding his feet in the top division. It is his first season at United after all and patience should be observed with the talented youngster.
