Legendary Roma captain Giuseppe Giannini spoke in favor of Daniele De Rossi as Roma’s long term head coach.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Giannini was asked about the next steps Roma should undertake in order to address Daniele De Rossi’s future at the club.

“De Rossi has brought results, style and mentality. Roma always tries to play without fear with him on the bench. Then you can also lose, but there is a different attitude, the players are more convinced. And winning the derby gives you a state of exhilaration,” said Giannini.

“Upon his arrival, De Rossi got to work on the team’s mindset, their attitude and mentality. Then he put some important ideas on the pitch, the latest being that of El Shaarawy on the right, who had never wanted to play there before,” he added.

“Does he deserve a contract renewal? Absolutely, yes – he deserves it. He’s given this team security and peace of mind. He’s allowed them to be successful again. And he’s also brought the right Roman spirit which is always nice to have within the club.”
