Girona’s star man Artem Dovbyk is one step closer to Atlético Madrid move as he misses training | OneFootball

With Artem Dovbyk being heavily rumoured for a departure from La Liga surprise package Girona, all signs point to a move taking place sooner rather than later.

It is only natural in football that when a smaller club gets a hint of success, it won’t be long before bigger clubs swoop in to pick up the spoils.

This has been the case with Ukrainian star Dovbyk, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital to play for Atlético.

These rumours took yet another leap forward on Wednesday, as Marca reported that the 27-year-old was absent from training in anticipation of the move.

The move has sped up in the last week thanks to Álvaro Morata’s move to Italy, which left Atléti in need of a number ‘9’ to replace him.

With the revelation that Dovbyk has been absent from training for the Catalan side, it is seemingly a matter of days if not hours before the move is completed.

Dovbyk will be a big miss, and a big gain, for Girona and Atlético Madrid respectively, especially off the back of his Pichichi-winning campaign which saw him crowned as La Liga top-scorer.
