Barcelona appear to be undergoing a fire sale at the moment, as they desperate try to organise player departures. Their reason for this is to ensure that there is enough salary space to register all of their first team squad by the end of the summer – this includes any further new signings that could be made.
One player whose situation has changed because of this is Eric Garcia. The 23-year-old had been counted on by Barcelona for this season, but due to their need to sell players, they are now increasingly willing to organise his departure.
Girona have remained interested in Eric all summer. Having had him on loan last season, they want to bring him back to Montilivi ahead of the start of their debut Champions League campaign. According to Cadena SER (via Sport), club bosses are prepared to wait until the end of the transfer window to see whether he becomes available.
Eric proved his value to Girona last season, and it’s no surprise that they want him back. Equally, sale would make sense for Barcelona, as he’d not an essential part of their squad – and unlike a fair few of their players that could move on, he has good value.
