Girona readying fresh push for Barcelona star | OneFootball

The powers that be at La Liga high-flyers Girona are ready to kick on with efforts to keep hold of a starring member of the club’s loan ranks for next season.

The player in question? Eric García.

The name of defender García has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain once more over the course of the last 24 hours.

As much comes after the former Manchester City man played a central role in Girona getting the better of none other than his parent club, Barcelona.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at the Estadi Montilivi, Barca head coach Xavi reiterated for the 2nd time in the space of a week that his hope is to have García back at his disposal at the Camp Nou for the 2024/25 campaign.

The brass at Catalan rivals Girona, though, appear to have altogether different ideas in mind.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano, the Blanquivermells ‘will push again soon to keep Eric for next season’.

It is currently unclear whether such a proposal would be based on another loan, or a permanent transfer, but one thing is for sure – García will not be short on options looking ahead to next season.
