Going into the summer, Girona are facing the prospect of losing some of their stars who helped them qualify for the Champions League last season.

Girona are looking to fight fire with fire however, and are on the verge of completing a high-profile signing of their own as they look to get some experience into their squad.

This information comes courtesy of Marca, who are reporting that Girona are on the verge of completing the signing of Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek.

the 27-year-old former Dutch international is set to sign for the Catalan club for a reasonable price, which is set to be no more than €10 million, a fair amount less than the €40 million plus for which he signed for Manchester United.

Van de Beek’s Premier League career hasn’t gone as planned. He has failed to take to the league as many had expected on his arrival from Ajax.

Loans out to Everton and Frankfurt have also filed to revitalise van de Beek’s career, leading him to leave in search of a new challenge.

It is likely that it will take some time to get the Dutchman up to full sharpness, given his lack of playing time over the last few years, however, they will be hoping the presence of his fellow international Daley Blind will help him settle in.
