Girona loanee Eric García confirms Barcelona return plans | OneFootball

On-loan Barcelona star Eric García has on Thursday confirmed his plans for the coming summer.

And the news is no doubt set to turn heads amongst supporters of two of La Liga’s leading clubs.

García, for his part, has of course enjoyed a fine campaign to date.

After being deemed surplus to requirements by the coaching staff at Barcelona last summer, the 23-year-old went on to link up with fellow La Liga outfit Girona.

And García has since gone on to provide Spanish football fans with a timely reminder of exactly why Barca sought out his signature in the first place, shining at the heart of Girona’s backline.

All told, the former Manchester City man has featured from the off in 21 of the Blanquivermells’ league outings, playing a pivotal role in, for much of the term, a shock push for the title.

With his current terms at the Estadi Montilivi set to come to an end in a matter of months, the subject of his future beyond the summer, in turn, was tonight put to García himself.

And, speaking during an interview with RAC1, as cited by Diario Sport, the stopper showcased little hesitation in confirming his desire to return to base in Barcelona.

“I have a contract. I have to return once the season ends,” he began.

Pressed further on the possibility of linking back up with Girona for the 2024/25 campaign, García appeared uninterested, in reiterating: “What is one hundred percent certain is that I will return to Barça. Then, once I am there, I will see what happens.”
