Girona have been very busy in the transfer market over the last few weeks, as sporting director Quique Carcel aims to ensure that Michel Sanchez’s squad is ready for the demands of playing Champions League football next season. Several arrivals are projected at Montilivi over the remainder of the summer, and one player whom club bosses hope to see arrival is Eric Garcia.
Eric was a pillar of Michel’s side last season. He was a mainstay in defence, either as a right-back or central defender. As per MD, Girona are confident of being able to re-sign him, despite the fact that their chances of doing so decreased recently.
Ronald Araujo’s hamstring injury, which will sideline him for the next four months, means that Eric is needed more in Hansi Flick’s squad, but despite this, Girona believe that they can convince Barcelona to part ways with the 23-year-old.
However, they’re not fully sure of his arrival, as the report confirms that other targets are being looked at. If Eric does return to Girona, it won’t be until later in the summer, as he’s with the Spain squad for the 2024 Olympic Games, which gets underway next week.
