Girona boss speaks on January signing of Barcelona star | OneFootball

Girona head coach Míchel has spoken out on the potential arrival of Barcelona star Eric García this month.

The name of versatile defender Eric has of course proven itself a prominent one in the headlines throughout the January transfer window.

This comes amid the understanding that, owing to his place well down the defensive and midfield pecking orders in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad alike, the Blaugrana could be open to a deal for the right price.

Repeatedly pushed as the leaders to strike an agreement for the Spanish international, meanwhile, have been Girona, with whom Eric enjoyed a fine season on loan in 2023/24.

Speaking to the media on Friday, the subject of as much was in turn put to the aforementioned Míchel once more.

And Girona’s headmaster was understandably keen to keep his cards close to his chest, in responding:

“Signing Eric García? I am neither optimistic nor pessimistic, Eric is a Barcelona player and I do not know what will happen. My priority is to prepare for the next match.”
