The powers that be at Premier League heavyweights Manchester City are keeping a close eye on the situation of Girona head coach Míchel.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at The Etihad.

Man City, of course, are fresh off being sent packing from the Champions League, by Real Madrid.

The board on the blue half of Manchester, though, have long been looking beyond matters on the pitch, and towards those on the touchline.

This comes amid mounting belief on the part of the Sky Blues brass that beloved head coach Pep Guardiola’s time with the club is inching towards its conclusion.

Guardiola’s current terms at The Etihad are set expire in the summer of 2025, with it viewed as altogether unlikely that the Spaniard will ultimately decide to prolong his stay.

City, as a result, are on the lookout for a suitable replacement.

And, as per the aforementioned Relevo, one such option appears to have been identified, at La Liga outfit Girona.

The remarkable exploits put forth by Míchel at the Estadi Montilivi this season have not gone at all unnoticed on the part of the City Group, of which Girona are of course a leading member.

In turn, it is suggested that:

‘Míchel’s is a profile that brings together similarities with Pep’s style, and not only tactically. Also in charisma, in knowledge of football and in work.’

Eager for the post-Guardiola era to be ushered in in as smooth a manner as possible, the Spaniard’s compatriot is as a result viewed as an increasingly attractive option to take up the reins in Manchester with a view to the 2025/26 campaign.
