Girona have been very busy in the transfer market over the summer, having signed the likes of Abel Ruiz, Donny van de Beek and Bryan Gil in preparation for their first season as a Champions League club. They’ve also been making moves for their B team, for whom they have now picked up a leading signing.
As reported by Sport, Girona have agreed a three-year contract to sign Nil Caldero. The 19-year-old, who can play as a striker or winger, has been a free agent for the last few weeks, following the expiry of his contract at Barcelona on the 30th of June.
Caldero was captain of Barcelona’s U18 side last season, and he had also featured for the U19s. Despite this, he did not have a clear pathway to the first team – unlike several of his then-teammates, including Marc Guiu and Dani Rodriguez. Hence, he opted to leave the club, and he’s now set to begin a new adventure at Girona.
