América have drawn Chivas in the quarter-finals of this season’s Liguilla, with their opponents coming into the match extremely short-handed, likely without José Juan Macías.
Of course, a number of Chivas players have been kicked off the team for various transgressions, including Eduardo ‘Chofis’ Lopez, Dieter Villalpando, Jose Juan “Gallito” Vazquez, and Alexis Peña.
With two-and-a-half weeks since their last match, América have had a lot of time to recover and Giovani dos Santos is one of those players.
Miguel Herrera has kept the player out of his lineup because of physical discomfort. However, the player has returned to full first-team training alongside his team-mates, including on Sunday and Monday.
Leo Suárez’s loss due to COVID-19 now creates a place in the starting XI that must be filled, with the two most natural options being both dos Santos and Nico Benedetti.
