Giorgos Giakoumakis is in contention to play for Greece against N Ireland. The Celtic striker trained alone yesterday sparking fears that he was injured. Despite an injury scare, Greece manager Gus Poyet has confirmed that the player is okay to feature against Ian Baraclough’s team.

According to Sportime’s Giannis Chorianopoulos, Giakoumakis has a 50% chance of playing for his country in Athens on Tuesday night.

It will be a relief that Giakoumakis hasn’t pulled out of the camp through injury but there is a risk he may flare up an issue. Hopefully, Poyet realises this and he errs on the side of caution and starts GG from the bench.

Celtic will go into Saturday’s game against Motherwell with a couple of injury concerns with Daizen Maeda and Sead Haksabanovic picking up injuries in the international break. After the defeat to St Mirren, Ange will be keen to bounce back domestically as the curtain is raised on a crucial juncture in the season.
