Milan centre-forward Santiago Gimenez has revealed that he arrives early for Milan training and that he is working with a personal video analysis to improve his game, and hopes to encourage some of his other teammates to do similarly.

Gimenez reveals impressive Milan training habit

The former Feyenoord striker gave an interview to the Mexican edition of Sports Illustrated, where he spoke in-depth about his life at Milan so far following his high-profile transfer from Feyenoord in January.

The Mexico international revealed that before leaving Feyenoord, he and a few other teammates had created a ‘breakfast club’, where they would report early for training well before the traditional morning’s breakfast.

By the end of his time in the Netherlands, Gimenez claims that most of the Feyenoord squad were doing the same.

Gimenez told Sports Illustrated that he is still doing the same at Milanello, but for now, he is the only one doing so.

“At Feyenoord, when we created this breakfast club, there were two of three of us at the beginning, and in the end, when I left, it was almost the whole team that came to train before breakfast. I’m alone at Milanello for now, but slowly I’ll attract others,” the Rossoneri striker said, reported via TMW.

Gimenez obsessed with analysis and statistics

Gimenez also revealed that he works with a personal video analyst after every game to identify and improve upon his flaws.

“I like to get to training and be focussed and aware and ready to work on what I’ve failed at. I use the notes app a lot for video analysis, for performance. After each game, I write down what I did well, what I did badly. I give myself a grade.

“I have a video analyst. I play and he starts analysing for the next day. He extracts a video and summarises the game in 15 minutes. All my plays come up and he says: ‘You did well on this one, but you should have tried to shoot with your right.’

“I took a course in reading statistics and I organise them according to the results. Every three months I make a general statistic of duels won, duels lost, dribbling, shooting. If I see the statistic going down, if a statistic is going up, that’s what I try to improve.”
