Santiago Gimenez admits scoring in his first two Serie A games for Milan is ‘what I dreamed of,’ while Joao Felix believes they’ll beat Feyenoord if replicating today’s ‘desire to fight.’
The Rossoneri found it far more difficult than expected to break down a Hellas Verona side who have the worst defensive record in Serie A, fresh off a 5-0 defeat to Atalanta.
It wasn’t until a moment of magic at the 75th minute that they found a way through, Rafael Leao acrobatically knocking down an Alex Jimenez dinked pass for the Santiago Gimenez header from point-blank range.
This means Gimenez is only the third Milan player to score in each of his first two Serie A games in the three points for a win era, following in the footsteps of Andriy Shevchenko and teammate Christian Pulisic.
“I am very happy, it is what I dreamed of, I am going through a wonderful period of form. My teammates helped me and the whole team is very happy with the three points,” Gimenez told Sky Sport Italia.
It was emotional facing his former Feyenoord teammates in Rotterdam for the 1-0 Champions League play-off defeat, but the striker hopes to make his mark at San Siro in the second leg on Tuesday evening.
“It will be difficult, it is a great team, but we want to continue in the Champions League. This is Milan, these are the stages where the side gives its best.”

Joao Felix also spoke to Sky Sport Italia at the final whistle and had a very positive view of the performance this evening against struggling Verona.
“I feel good, I am taking it day by day, we are all improving and must continue like this,” said the Portugal international on loan from Chelsea.
“We could’ve scored more goals, but the way we played today must be how we play on Tuesday if we are to win. If we have the same desire to fight, then we will certainly win. We have fantastic individuals, we have more quality than them and we can do it.”
