PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has opened up on his violent home robbery to Italian media Libero, as pointed out by Sud Ouest. On Thursday night, the Italian international’s Parisian home was been broken into by burglars. Donnarumma was assaulted and overpowered by the robbers. He was then tied up. “I was immobilised and Alessia [Elefante, his girlfriend] was forced to give them everything valuable that we had.” The robbers reportedly walked away with loot valued at around €500.000. Donnarumma did not confirm this, as an official police investigation is still underway.
The Euro 2020 winner with Italy recalled that the robbers were not wearing masks and spoke with a French accent. “I was very afraid for Alessia, that something might happen to her.” said Donnarumma. “Me, I was helpless, tied up, I could not do anything. In addition, I don’t speak french fluently, so it was difficult to explain to these people where our stuff was”, mentions the 24-year-old.
Donnarumma adds that he had to spend last night in a hotel, with police presumably conducting forensics exams at his home. The Italian is part of the PSG squad that is set to travel to Japan for their pre-season tour. “To suddenly find people at your place at 3am, I think it is the worst possible feeling.”
