Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are ramping up efforts to sign Manchester City winger Bernardo Silva (28). According to Foot Mercato, super-agent Jorge Mendes is actively pushing for the move away from the Premier League champions, whilst a swap deal including Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marco Verratti has been discussed.

Mendes has been instrumental in driving the potential transfer of Bernardo Silva to PSG. Recognising the interest from the Parisian club,  he has actively advocated for his client’s departure from Manchester City. With PSG renowned for its significant financial resources, the French club has made several offers and explored various player exchange possibilities to facilitate the deal.

PSG’s attempts to sweeten the deal through player exchanges have been met with rejection from Manchester City. Among the names considered were Marco Verratti, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Presnel Kimpembe. While these players could address specific needs for Manchester City, the club deemed the proposed offers insufficient.

Stepping into the negotiations is Luís Campos, PSG’s football advisor, entrusted with facilitating a breakthrough in talks. Campos reached out to his Manchester City counterpart, Txiki Begiristain, several weeks ago to explore the potential for player exchanges.

His suggestions regarding Marco Verratti and Gianluigi Donnarumma, players who could fulfil specific roles for Manchester City, caught immediate interest. Verratti was reportedly seen as a player who could potentially fill the void left by the expiring contract of Ilkay Gündogan, while Donnarumma’s presence would provide healthy competition for Ederson in the goalkeeper position.
