French newspaper L’Equipe has revealed that Gianluigi Buffon is set to make a whopping €5m per season, or about €100,000 per week.

The 40-year-old Italian and Juventus legend joined PSG on a free this summer, which would help explain why the French champions are willing to shell out so much cash.

The publication goes on to say that Buffon’s salary is “worthy of his prestige and popularity”.

His salary is much higher than the salary of PSG’s other goalkeepers Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp.

The legendary World Cup winning goalkeeper made his PSG debut in their 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup, starting and playing 66 minutes, giving up just one goal.
