Inter had difficulties in preparing at their best for the Serie A match yesterday against Lazio, thanks to the absences of the South American internationals in their squad.

This was emphasized by Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who weighed in on the situation on air and gave the view that the Nerazzurri’s preparations had been significantly affected.

Inter without the Argentine strikers Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa, Uruguayan midfielder Matias Vecino, and Chilen duo Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal until hours before the Biancocelesti clash.

Sanchez and Vidal were left out of the squad entirely as their return had been too late and they were granted a rest, while the other three players were restricted to appearances from the bench, in which they struggled to affect the game.

For Di Marzio, this was a clear factor in some of the problems with the Nerazzurri’s performance as they never looked their best and slumped to a 3-1 defeat.

“It was not easy for Inter to prepare for the match, given the difficulties with the South Americans,” he stated. “The rules can’t be changed. But Inter have once again got back together, and this is a problem on which Inzaghi will have to work.”
