Giakoumakis to Atlanta United is a £4.3m ‘Done Deal’ reports Fabrizio Romano | OneFootball

News of the Giorgos Giakoumakis transfer this evening with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting:

“Giōrgos Giakoumakīs to Atlanta United as DP, done deal — striker traveling to Mexico together with his agent Blash Hossein where Atlanta pre season is taking place for medical tests. Celtic will receive £4.3m fee, player will sign three year deal with option.”

The £4.3m fee Celtic will receive is perhaps a little higher than previously expected and it should be noted that Celtic will have a sell-on clause in the deal together with the sell-on clause that Dutch side VVV Venlo have from their transfer dealings with Celtic in August 2021.

Ange Postecoglou indicated at his media conference yesterday afternoon ahead of the match against St Johnstone tomorrow that the deal was imminent but as it was no longer on his radar we’d probably hear about it first on Instagram.

As it turned out it was actually a different social media channel as Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Twitter this evening. We wish Giorgos all the best in the States and thank him for his outstanding contribution as a Celtic player over the past 18 months. He will be remembered fondly among the Celtic support.
