In speaking to the Guardian, Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus compared himself to Brazil and PSG forward Neymar. The Ajax man’s remarks come after a confrontation between the two players during a friendly this September. Kudus said:
“He was defending his country and I was defending mine. I wasn’t about to let him push me around. What makes him better, for now, is that he has achieved a lot. I’ll get there soon… He’s not better than me. He’s just a higher profile player, that’s all.”
Despite some indifferent form of late, the midfielder remains positive on Ghana’s World Cup chances, saying: “We’ve not been great recently, but I know what I feel when I speak to the guys. The spirit is really great and this team will come good very soon. Maybe not now, but very soon.”
Ghana open their World Cup campaign against Portugal today before games with South Korea and Uruguay in Group H before a possible rematch between Ghana and the 22-year-old Kudus and Neymar’s Brazil in the last 16.
