Thomas Partey
Henry Asante Twum, communications director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has just explained the inclusion of Thomas Partey in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Thomas Partey is currently facing legal proceedings in the United Kingdom over allegations of rape and sexual assault. In light of this, many expected him to be left out of the squad for the double-header against Chad and Mali. Despite these legal issues, Henry Asante Twum insists that the player is fully fit, both mentally and physically, to represent Ghana.
"We have always supported our players, and he is aware that he faces a trial. However, Thomas Partey has assured us that he is able to join the national team and that he is in the right frame of mind to play in these matches. If you look at his first two appearances for Villarreal, you can see that he is in excellent shape. As an experienced and key player in the squad, he is ready to return and defend Ghana's colors," he told the local press.
