Welcome back to the Get German Football News advent calendar. As the countdown to Christmas continues, so does our festive fun, as behind day two is a pair of strikers who cannot stop scoring in the Bundesliga.

Harry Kane and Serhou Guirassy have been in scintillating form so far this season. Last campaign, Christopher Nkunku and Niclas Füllkrug finished as the league’s joint top scorers with 16 goals each.

However, just twelve games into this season, Kane and Guirassy have 33 goals between them, which is more than Füllkrug and Nkunku managed throughout the whole campaign. With Bayern Munich’s marksman currently leading the way with 18 goals compared to Guirassy’s 15, it would be easy to suggest that the Englishman will receive the Torjägerkanone come May.

As well as this, it is Kane’s first season in the Bundesliga, and after arriving from Tottenham in the summer for a Bundesliga record transfer fee, the high expectations have certainly been met. While Der Rekordmeister may not be leading the way at the top of the table, if they can continue supplying the England captain, then it would be hard to believe they will not eventually surpass Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen.

Nevertheless, the race for the Bundesliga top scorer award may not be a foregone conclusion. Unlike Kane, Guriassy has had to deal with injuries during the campaign, which has in turn seen the Malian only manage 83 minutes in the last five games, missing two in the process.

Therefore, this has meant that while Kane may be ahead of him in the goal tally thus far, Guriassy can boast a better goal-per-minute ratio. The Stuttgart striker has found the back of the net on average every 47 minutes this season, compared to Kane, who has scored a goal every 58 minutes.

With the Hinrunde yet to draw to a close, this is an unprecedented race for the Torjägerkanone. Regardless, whoever is to come out second best will undoubtedly still be remembered for their genius this season.
