First home match of 2024/25 Bundesliga at Red Bull Arena

Before we face Twente again, it's time for the Bundesliga - for the second time this week, we get to enjoy a home match this Saturday, 10 August at 19:30 CEST against FC Blau-Weiß Linz - and the last few weeks have given us every reason to look forward to it.

With three wins from their first three competitive matches, our Red Bulls have made a perfect start in all three competitions, which they are now looking to build on.

FC Blau-Weiß Linz are a side who caused us problems last season as a newly promoted outfit, however. The Upper Austrians became the first team to beat us in 45 matches at home in September 2023, and we were held to a 1-1 draw in our return match in February. The side finished a solid ninth at the end of their first season and are setting their aims high this time too after making a few reinforcements over the summer. They enjoyed a fine start to the campaign with a 1-0 win against Austria Vienna.

71 percent possession for our boys on the opening matchday in Graz

Things are of course different this time around, with our side showing against Dornbirn, GAK and FC Twente just how formidable we can be! There is therefore plenty of reason to look forward to the first Bundesliga home match of the season.

We all need to be fresh for the match on Saturday, no matter how much our players have played recently. We can't forget that our next match is against Blau-Weiß Linz, and not against Twente. Our next match is our next final. The boys don't need much more additional motivation for Saturday, as they know they didn't beat the opponents last season. That says plenty about them. We want to show a reaction to that, not to prove ourselves to anyone, but for our own benefit. We have analysed them and will prepare well for the clash. We want to win in our own stadium, of course.

Pepijn Lijnders

Obviously we want to win the match against Blau-Weiß Linz. What happened last season doesn't matter anymore, so Blau-Weiß aren't a bogey team for us. It's much more important that we are ready on Saturday. We are determined to take the next win.  It felt great to score my two goals against Twente, especially as we won too. Falling asleep after a match like that is always difficult. Everything feels really good still.
