La Liga outfit Getafe have been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front, ahead of the club’s return to action this weekend.
This comes amid confirmation that Domingos Duarte is in line for a potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Portuguese international Duarte, for his part, remains an important member of the defensive ranks under the watch of José Bordalás in Madrid.
Though a combination of fitness and disciplinary troubles have restricted him to just 15 appearances across the La Liga season to date, the 29-year-old’s experience would no doubt have proven an important factor in Getafe’s push for a top-half finish over the final months of the term.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s meeting with Sevilla on Saturday afternoon, though, the aforementioned Bordalás confirmed that Duarte has come to the decision to undergo surgery.
This comes with a view to fixing a shoulder problem which has long plagued the stopper.
And, unfortunately, this could well mean the end of Duarte’s contributions in Azulones colours until next season.
“It is a new loss that we have for tomorrow’s game,” Bordalás explained, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “I don’t know how long he needs to recover. It is very possible that we will not be able to count on him for the rest of the season.”
