Getafe president Angel Torres has today moved to send a message of gratitude to Real Madrid counterpart Florentino Pérez.

As much comes with a view to the imminent arrival of Kylian Mbappé in Spain’s capital.

It is of course world football’s worst-kept secret that frontman Mbappé is all set to link up with Real Madrid this coming summer.

After the France international informed long-time club Paris Saint-Germain of his decision not to renew his expiring contract, Los Blancos picked up where they left off in the summer of 2022, in reigniting talks with Mbappé’s entourage.

And though an official agreement, as of yet, has not been reached, all signs point towards as much as being only a matter of time.

Another of world football’s standout talents, as a result, will indeed be plying his trade at the Santiago Bernabéu from next season on.

And, as alluded to above, one individual evidently excited by such a prospect comes in the form of Angel Torres.

Speaking in an interview with COPE this week, Getafe chief Torres was inevitably drawn on Mbappé’s incoming, and what it means for Spanish football.

And the Spaniard hinted that as much will prove a positive for La Liga as a whole, even going as far as to thank Real Madrid counterpart Florentino Pérez:

“Kylian Mbappé coming to La Liga? We have to thank Florentino Perez.”
