‘Get up from your seats and resign’ – Trabzonspor left fuming after being hit with severe punishment over fan violence | OneFootball

Trabzonspor were left fuming at Turkish Football Federation (TFF) after being ordered to play their next six home matches without spectators.

The Turkish club were given this severe punishment after their supporters stormed the pitch and attacked Fenerbahce players and security forces during their Super Lig clash last month.

Trabzonspor have blasted the country’s football federation with an expletive-laden rant on social media.

The violence broke out after Fenerbahce’s Michy Batshuayi scored an 87th-minute winner in their 3-2 success at Papara Park in Trabzon.

Social media footage showed chaotic scenes at the stadium, with home supporters invading the pitch in large numbers and brawling with rival players and security staff.

In the wake of that incident, the Yellow Canaries threatened to withdraw from the Super Lig but later decided not to go through with their threat.

The TFF ruled on Wednesday that Trabzonspor will play their next six home matches behind closed doors over the incident, per the Guardian.

They have also been fined three million Turkish lira, while their coach Egemen Korkmaz has been banned from the dressing room and bench for one game.

Fenerbahce’s Irfan Can Egribayat and Jayden Oosterwolde have been banned for one match for fighting with rival supporters.

The two teams are currently second and third in the Turkish Super Lig, albeit Fenerbahce have a 30-point lead over Trabzonspor.
