Svea Stoldt opened the scoring for Germany but Spain turned the game around, Marina Artero equalising before half time and Carla Camacho then giving them a 63rd-minute lead.

But Mara Alber struck two minutes from time to send the final to a shoot-out, in which Eve Boettcher saved three Spanish spot-kicks to see Germany triumph 3-2 for their eighth title.

France had earlier won the third place play-off with the Netherlands, to secure the last European berth at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India this October. Fanny Rossi and Lucie Calba scored first-half goals in a 2-0 result.
