Inter are now less than two weeks away from their first match of the Serie A season.

On Saturday, August 17th, the Nerazzurri kick off their league match with an away match against Genoa.

Therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is starting to think about his starting eleven for that match.

Naturally the coach will be aiming for a strong team in order to kick off the season with three points.

But there are more considerations for Inzaghi than just the quality of the players he selects.

There will also be the matter of fitness and preparedness after a preseason period that has seen a lot of players make late returns to training following the Euros and Copa America.

Yann Bisseck & Piotr Zielinski Likely To Start For Inter Vs Genoa In Serie A Opener

In defense, Bisseck looks like a very strong candidate to start.

Unlike a lot of the squad, the German has been in Inter’s training camp right from the very start. He has been working with Inzaghi and the squad for more than three weeks now.

And Bisseck appears to have made very good use of the preparation time.

In all four of Inter’s preseason friendlies so far, Bisseck has started. And the German has looked like one of Inter’s most impressive players across these matches.

There is little doubt about either Bisseck’s physical condition, or his match rhythm.

The same cannot be said for Benjamin Pavard. The Frenchman only just returned to training.

Therefore, Bisseck is likely to get the nod over Pavard against Genoa in the first match of the campaign.

Meanwhile, midfielder Zielinski has been part of Inter’s training camp for almost the entire time.

The Pole joined Inter last month. And considering his national team’s early exit from the Euros he did not have too late a return to training.

This means that Zielinski has already had plenty of time to work with Inzaghi and start to fit into the team.

Moreover, with Mehdi Taremi injured and some questions about the physical condition of other strikers like Marcus Thuram, Marko Arnautovic, and Lautaro Martinez for the match against Genoa, Inzaghi could move Henrikh Mkhitaryan into attack.

This would definitely mean that there is a spot for Zielinski in midfield.
