Germany have named their 26-man preliminary squad for the 2025 UEFA U21 European Championship, which takes place from June 11 to 28 in Slovakia.

The squad will gather for a training camp ahead of the tournament, with head coach Antonio Di Salvo set to submit his final 23-man list to UEFA by June 4.

“We’re incredibly excited,” said Di Salvo at a press conference on Wednesday.

“After two years of qualifiers and friendlies, the players, coaching staff, and entire team are highly motivated as we begin preparations for the tournament. The training camp will give every player the chance to prove themselves, while we also focus on key tactical details as a team.”

Goalkeepers Nahuel Noll (SpVgg Greuther Fürth) and Johannes Schenk (SC Preußen Münster) have both been called up for the first time. They will support regulars Noah Atubolu and Tjark Ernst and compete for the third goalkeeper spot.

“Nahuel and Johannes are talented keepers who’ve impressed with strong performances in the 2. Bundesliga,” Di Salvo said.

Also earning maiden call-ups are defenders Elias Baum (SV Elversberg, on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt) and Finn Jeltsch (VfB Stuttgart).

“Elias has been a consistent performer for Elversberg and played a key role in their strong season,” Di Salvo explained.

“Finn has settled in well at Stuttgart after his winter transfer and gained valuable top-level experience. Both have important games ahead - Jeltsch in the DFB Cup final and Baum in the Bundesliga promotion playoffs, which we’ll be following closely.”
