Germany come from behind to squeeze past Romania

Scorers: Gnabry 52′, Müller 81′; Hagi 9′.

Germany survived an early scare to squeeze past Romania and keep up the 100% start to Hansi Flick’s era as manager.

Ianis Hagi stunned the Volsparkstadion with a magnificent individual effort, nutmegging Antonio Rüdiger before poking the ball past Marc-André ter Stegen to fire the visitors in front.

Germany had the vast majority of possession from then on but had trouble breaking down their stubborn opponents until Serge Gnabry let fire from the edge of the area with a strike which rifled into the bottom corner.

The turnaround was complete in the final ten minutes as Leon Goretzka flicked on Joshua Kimmich’s corner for  Thomas Müller to volley home.

Klass act send Dutch top of Group G

Scorers: Klaassen 19′.

Netherlands saw off Latvia to keep up their unbeaten start to life back under Louis van Gaal and move top of Group G.

Davy Klaassen volleyed home from a Memphis Depay corner to give the Dutch the lead after 19 minutes but survived a few hairy moments as their hosts could’ve equalised on numerous occasions.

Roberts Uldrikis had a shot cleared off the line as Van Gaal had Justin Biljow to thank for a few important saves in the second half as the Netherlands held out.

Ramsey finds the net for both teams in Prague

Scorers: Pešek 38′, Ramsey (og) 49′; Ramsey 36′, James 69′.

Aaron Ramsey scored for both teams as Wales and Czech Republic played out an entertaining draw in Prague.

It was at the right end in the first half as Robert Page’s side produced a sublime counter-attack which led to Neco Williams’ cross finding the Juventus midfielder at the back post to sweep home.

Within minutes, Czech Republic were level with Jakub Pešek reacting first to Danny Ward palming out a shot to touch the ball into the empty net.

The Czechs got a huge helping hand on their way to taking the lead as Ramsey’s backpass caught out Ward before rolling into the back of the net.

But that horror show proved not to be costly as Daniel James equalised with 20 minutes to go after being slid through by Harry Wilson.
