The DFB have announced Germany’s squad for the upcoming September international break which will see them play two Nations League games.
The only absences are Leroy Sané and Antonio Rüdiger as both continue to work on their fitness at their clubs. Apart from them, the squad is relatively unchanged from Germany’s EURO 2024 campaign which saw them knocked out at the quarter-finals by eventual winners Spain. Obviously, there have been the retirements of Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer, Toni Kroos and Ilkay Gündogan, since the loss in Stuttgart.
Alexander Nübel and Aleksander Pavlovic are the returnees to the squad. Nübel was in the preliminary squad for EURO 2024 but was dropped ahead of the tournament, while Pavlovic missed the tournament due to tonsilitis, and was replaced by Emre Can.
The only debutant on the squad is VfB Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller, who is one of the players who can help lessen the impact of Kroos’ retirement.
Germany’s two Nations League games are against Hungary in Düsseldorf next Saturday before crossing the border to face rivals the Netherlands in Amsterdam a week on Tuesday.
