West Ham United have completed the signing of German youth international forward Shekiera Martinez on a three-year deal.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Hammers this afternoon.

Martinez joins West Ham United from Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt who she has represented since the age of 14. The 22-year-old has been playing top flight football in Germany since she was just 16. She has more than 100 league appearances to her name for Eintracht Frankfurt.

The forward will immediately join German club SC Freiburg on a season-long loan to enable her to meet the relevant points criteria to play in the English professional game.

After signing on with West Ham United, Martinez said “I’m really happy to be joining West Ham United. The Women’s Super League is an incredible league and I want to challenge myself in England against the best teams.

“I’m a fast player and love to score goals. I hope I can help the team with my experience from playing in Germany and in the Champions League. I hope to gain some invaluable experience on loan at SC Freiburg and return to East London ready to hit the ground running.”

Martinez is West Ham United’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
