Germán Pezzella ruled out of Argentina friendlies v Mexico | OneFootball

On Wednesday, both the AFA and Fiorentina announced that centre-back Germán Pezzella will not take part in Argentina’s upcoming pair of friendlies against Mexico.

Pezzella has earned five caps for the Albiceleste, scoring once.

“ACF Fiorentina announces that, during yesterday’s training with his national team, the player Germán Pezzella suffered a muscular injury to his left thigh,” the Viola said on their official website.

“The scans carried out in Argentina today confirmed a lesion between the first and second degree to the biceps femoris.

“The player will return to Florence in the next few hours to begin his therapy and rehabilitation program.

The official Argentina national team Twitter account also confirmed that the defender suffered a muscle injury and has been sent home.

Argentina will host Mexico on Friday, 16 November and Tuesday, 20 November.
